CAMPAIGN PLATFORM

The Castillo for Kids platform is rooted in one simple belief: when we put children first, everything else falls into place. Yennifer Castillo’s vision focuses on creating safe, well-resourced schools, expanding academic and enrichment opportunities, and ensuring that every child—regardless of background, language, or zip code—has access to a world-class education. Her platform champions stronger support for teachers and school staff, equitable funding for high-needs schools, mental health services, and community partnerships that uplift families. Guided by her lived experience as an educator, mentor, and advocate, Yennifer is committed to building a school system where every student is seen, supported, and empowered to succeed.
CAMPAIGN INITIATIVES
Safe, Supportive, and Fully-Resourced Schools

Every child deserves a safe environment where they can learn, grow, and thrive.

Equity & Access for Every Student

Zip code should never determine a child’s future.
This means removing barriers, especially for ELL students, students with disabilities, and children from underserved communities.

Focus areas:

  • Fair funding for high-needs schools

  • Strong ELL support (aligned with your 27 ELL students)

  • Accessible materials & technology

  • Nutrition & basic needs support (perfect tie-in to your classroom pantry story)

HBCU Pipeline & Pathway Initiatives

To strengthen college readiness and expand opportunities for underrepresented students, this initiative builds a direct pipeline from local schools to Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Through partnerships with HBCUs, students will gain access to dual-enrollment courses, mentorship programs, campus immersion experiences, and scholarship pathways. The goal is to expose students early to the academic excellence, community, and cultural pride found at HBCUs—while increasing college acceptance, persistence, and graduation rates.

Academic Excellence & Expanded Opportunities

Kids deserve access to rigorous instruction, hands-on learning, and pathways to college, careers, and the future.
Whether through STEM, literacy, arts, AP/IB, or vocational pathways, students should have opportunities that match their interests and strengths.

Focus areas:

  • Strong literacy programs

  • STEM & career-tech partnerships

  • Arts, athletics, & enrichment opportunities

  • High academic standards for all learners

Support & Respect for Teachers and Staff

Great schools start with supported educators.
From competitive pay to professional development to manageable workloads, investing in educators directly benefits students and improves the entire school system.

Focus areas:

  • Better teacher & ESP pay

  • Retention bonuses and mentoring for new teachers

  • Less testing, more real learning

  • Professional development opportunities
